Nyein Chan Su (artist)

NCS was born in 1973 in Yangon. His part time hobby of
drawing sketches realized into a full time occupation
when he quit the local high school and enrolled at the
State School of Fine Arts in Yangon in 1991. Surrounded
by classmates with similar views he was notorious with
his expressions on futuristic ideas of art and
techniques. During the time he was studying under Hlaing
Bwa who was at the time well known locally for his
modern paintings.
During 1994, by the support of very
closed friends who believed in him, he participated in a
group show “ Snow Sets” and venue was “Inya Gallery”.
This show was his first steps forwards his dream to
became carrier artist. In 1995 the second group show he
participated was titled “O2”.
An admirer can sense the simplicity
of the brush strokes in his paintings and the
adventurism of a fresh young artist was also obvious in
his expressions. Being such a young artist and the
colors he tries to express represent the freshness of
his thoughts. Starting from this period, he was a
regular exhibiting artist in “Orient Gallery” and
participated in all group shows. At this stage he was
able to make a living just from the sales of his
paintings to work as a full time artist.
