We started to organize Modern Art 90 exhibition in 1990 lead
by Aye Ko. In 2000, we changed our group name from Modern
Art 90 to New Zero Art group. We exhibited New Art movement,
Visual Art movement and Performance Art movement in many
other places and other foreign culture council every
year. Our group, Ayeyarwady Art Assembly and IFIMA (
international Forum for Intermedia Art) [organized by JayKo]
held the celebration, International Symposium and Open
Academy on Collaboration, Networking and Resource-sharing,
together in June 2002. Prince Claus fund had been supported
for this project.
We made two NIPAF- Myanmar performance art exchange in 2001
and 2005. , organized by Shimoda from Japan.
In January 2008, we got a place to build our New Zero Art
space founded by Aye Ko. As financial support, all New Zero
30 members donated paintings. We rent a place to make our
New Zero Art space by selling these paintings with cheap
price. There are a exhibition space and small library in our
Art space. Our space is medium room, not too big.In 2009, we
found another new studio that includes living room, office,
the kitchen, and the place to work for the artists.
Our recent movement are to exhibit visual art and new art
every month. Local artists discuss about art weekly.
Sometimes, some international artists come and give semina.
We teach painting free to the children. We teach visual art
and new art to next generation for free, as well.
In 2009, January, we exhibited Asean contemporary art
exchange, seminar and workshop with 13 artists from 9
countries, 30 artists from Myanmar, sponsored by Prince
Claus Fund.
Our next purpose is to show exhibition by receiving foreign
artists. We also have plans to promote local new artists. We
plan to do art workshop and art discussion by collaborating
international artists and local artists. We have plan to
receive foreign artists Residency program.
